How it works

The calculator estimates your usual paycheck, then adds the extra shifts or overtime hours you enter. Hours above your overtime threshold are paid at 1.5 times your base hourly rate.

If you enter overtime hours directly, those hours are treated as overtime. If you enter extra shifts, the calculator uses your average shift length and weekly overtime threshold.

Shift and weekend differentials are added for each extra work hour. They are not multiplied by overtime in this estimate.

The optional ZIP estimate uses your ZIP code to infer your state, then combines a simple federal estimate, payroll tax, and state income tax estimate.

This calculator is an estimate only. It is not tax, legal, payroll, or financial advice. Your actual paycheck can vary based on your employer, benefits, withholding, state taxes, city or local taxes, and payroll rules.

FAQ

Does this include overtime?

Yes. Hours above the overtime threshold are paid at 1.5 times your base hourly rate.

Are differentials multiplied by overtime?

No. This estimate adds differentials per hour and does not multiply them by overtime.

What does the ZIP estimate include?

It estimates federal income tax, payroll tax, and state income tax from your ZIP code. It may not include city, county, or employer-specific withholding rules.

Do pretax deductions reduce the extra shift amount?

Pretax deductions are used to estimate your regular paycheck. The extra shift estimate applies tax directly to the added gross pay.

Will this match my paycheck exactly?

Probably not exactly. Payroll systems can include state rules, benefit changes, bonuses, garnishments, and other details.
